Sometimes we have a client come to us with design ideas that are a little out of our comfort zone. The owner of the upcoming Rhode Island veterinary clinic, Seaside Equine Services, asked us to create a raw, edgy custom logo that would combine her love of all things eclectic with her passion for Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, and sporthorses.
The finished product features a unique sketchbook style image of a powerful horse in the ocean waves, a perfect marriage of an “unfinished” look with professional flair. The teal gradient matches the nautical theme of this original design as well as adds a soothing touch. A mix of serif font incorporated into the rushing waves and a bold sans serif type round out this stunning equine logo that’s reminiscent of vintage medical drawings.
Powerful Horse in the Ocean Logo for Rhode Island Equine Veterinary Clinic
Seaside Equine Services is an up and coming veterinary practice specializing in the care and treatment of horses in North Scituate, Rhode Island. Unbeknownst to many, New Jersey has been a key player in the United States horse industry since the 1600’s, when breeders produced Narragansett Pacers to ship to both seaside colonies and Carribean plantations. It was the only colony that permitted horse racing, courtesy of the one mile Sandy Neck Beach track, and racing enthusiasts could enjoy watching “pacing races.” In modern times, it’s said that the density of horses in Rhode Island may be one of the highest in the country.
Narragansett Pacers sadly became extinct by the late 1800’s, but were the first horse breed developed in the United States. Derived from a mix of English and Spanish breeds, the Pacer was the foundation for many modern gaited breeds such as the American Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking Horse, and Standardbred. The sure footed breed, known for having an ambling gait rather than a true pacing gait, was valued by plantation owners and even George Washington himself was said to be a Narragansett Pacer owner.
Trail riding is highly popular among the Rhode Island equestrian community, with over 50% of horse owners in the state said to participate. The boarding business is also thriving in the state, with 65% of individuals who cite earning income via the horse industry operating boarding facilities.
Line Art Horse in the Ocean Logo Design With Sketchbook Style
Somewhat different from our typical vector styles, this custom horse in the ocean for an equine veterinary clinic logo sprang to life from ideas centered around the company owner’s love of eclectic decor and Thoroughbred horses. Our artists discovered in our design consultation that the veterinarian didn’t particularly care for circles or curves, but was drawn to sketch type art and colors like teal and rose gold. The end result was an edgy horse in the ocean wave logo design depicting a powerful sport horse, flowing tail and a serif font curving into the lines of the churning sea.
The line art design brings to mind old fashioned doctor’s illustrations, a nod to the raw, unfinished feel our client indicated she was drawn to. A teal gradient and bold fonts accent this stunning, memorable hand drawn custom horse in the ocean logo.

Rhode Island Equine Veterinarian’s Horse in the Ocean Logo Sure to Garner Attention of Equestrians Across the State
Although it’s said that the number of large animal veterinarians in Rhode Island (and throughout the United States) will likely continue to diminish due to harsh working conditions, unusual and unpredictable work hours, and physically demanding nature of the field, a unique custom horse in the ocean logo is the first step toward being recognized and sought out by new clients.
Having a professional brand identity builds trust, highly important in an industry that cares for ill and injured horses that may at times be expensive-but are all loved by their owners, regardless of monetary value. The soothing teal gradient colors and striking image of a Thoroughbred amidst crashing ocean waves is sure to turn heads throughout the Rhode Island equestrian community.

“… took all my suggestions and absolutely NAILED the logo on the first try. I didn’t change a thing!...
Let me just say how AMAZING it was to work with Jackie and David for my logo. I don’t know how she did it, but from my first interaction with her and her husband I knew I was going to get something exceptional and unlike anything I have seen before.
The correspondence with David was smooth and very timely. My first meeting with Jackie was unreal, I still don’t know how she knew the color of my cat, just based off its meow hahah.
She took all my suggestions and absolutely NAILED the logo on the first try. I didn’t change a thing! She gave me a timeline and was well within that timeline. The minimalist and elegance of the logo is exactly what I wanted for mg practice. I can not recommend EQ Graphics enough!!! Thank you again for all your hard work!”
